To access the Rivers State Court Management Information System (RIVCOMIS);
Open a browser and enter the ‘RIVCOMIS URL’; https://rivcomis.riversstate.gov.ng
The home page will display as shown in the image below.
All users of the RIVCOMIS platform will have to register with valid personal information to create an account.
After registration, the user account would be authenticated and activated. This will enable the user to successfully login to the platform and perform various actions.
To login as a Judge:
Step 1: Click ‘Account’ on the login page
Step 2: Enter valid ‘Email Address’ and ‘Password’ then click ‘Sign in’ to successfully access judge’s account
The judge’s dashboard will display as shown below
Step 1: Click ‘Filings’ to view cases assigned to your court
A table with different types of filings will display, scroll to view the particular case file you want to treat.
Step 2: Click ‘Preview’ on the case file you want to treat (as shown on the image above).
CASE DETAILS TABS
Tab 1: ‘Parties’– Shows you the parties involved in the case
Tab 2: ‘Case details’ – Shows you the Type of filing, Date of filing, filed by, Name of Judge/Magistrate the case is assigned to
Tab 3: ‘Payments’ – Shows you the breakdown of payments made for the filed case(s)
Tab 4: ‘Case files’ –Shows you attached documents filed by claimant(s) and defendant(s) counsel(s) and uploaded documents (Ruling, order, judgment, proceedings, etc.) by the court.
NB: You can download the attached files to your system drive by the following steps
Click on the category file you want to download (e.g. list of application filed)
Click on ‘View File’ of the application you want to download. See image below
Click ‘Download applications’ (See image below)
Tab 5: ‘Activity Log’ -Shows you the activities that have been carried out on that case.
Step 1: On your dashboard, click ‘Filings’
SET DATE AND ADJOURNMENT DATE
Step 2: Click the ‘Preview’ of the case you want to work on
Step 3: Select ‘Type of Hearing’, physical (court room) or visual (online)
Step 4: Select ‘Action’ (e.g. hearing, Plea, motion, adjournment etc.) by clicking in the select action box.
Step 5: Select ‘Action Date’ by clicking in the select action date box, a calendar will display, select the date and select the time. If you wish to change the month displayed, click on the month (e.g. May 2021) to see other months. Same applies to choosing a further year
Step 6: Enter ‘Remarks’ (optional). If you want to enter a remark, type the information you wish to send to the counsels before proceeding to step 5
Step 7: Click ‘Set Action’. A dialog box will display asking if you are sure you want to assign business to this case. Click YES if you are sure of what you have done and NO if you are not sure.

F1: MANUAL TYPING OF RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS
Step 1: Click ‘Record Proceedings’
Step 2: Click Claimant to view uploaded ‘Claimant Details’
Click the blue tick or red cross icon to record claimant’s presence or absence
Enter ‘Name of Representative’ for the claimant (if available), and click ‘Save’
Step 3: Click to view uploaded ‘Defendants Details’.
Click the blue tick or red cross icon to record defendant’s presence or absence
Enter ‘Name of Representative’ for the defendant (if available), and click ‘Save’
Step 4: Type or paste ‘records of proceedings’ in the space provided.
Step 5: Click ‘Continue’ to proceed to the next step.
A message will display with the information ‘Proceeding Saved’, click Ok

F2: UPLOADING AN ALREADY TYPED AND SCANNED RECORD OF PROCEEDINGS, RULINGS, ORDER, AND JUDGEMENT
Step 1: Click ‘Type of Document to Upload’ to select the type of document e.g. record of proceedings, order etc (see image below)
Step 2: Enter ‘Document Name’
Step 3: Click ‘Upload Document’
N/B: Clicking on upload document opens your device drive (memory), go to where the scanned document is saved and upload it by double clicking on the file or clicking once and then clicking open (See image below)

Step 4: A prompt will appear with the information ‘File Uploaded’, Click ‘Ok’ and ‘Close’ to finish.
Step 1: On your dashboard, click ‘Cause List’
Step 2: A ‘table’ will be displayed, select ‘Daily Cause List’ or ‘Weekly Cause List’ as required and scroll to view the available cases.
HOW TO RETURN A CASE
Step 1: On your dashboard, click ‘Filings’
Step 2: Click the ‘Preview’ of the case you want to work on
Step 3: Click ‘Return Case’
Step 4: Enter the reasons why you are returning the case and click ‘Save’
Step 5: A prompt will appear asking for confirmation, click ‘Yes’ and then ‘Ok’ to finish the process.
Step 1: On your dashboard, click ‘Hearing Notice’
Step 2: Select ‘Counsel Type’ and enter ‘Suit Number’ of the case and click ‘Search’
Step 3a: Select ‘Party’ and ‘Date of Order’
Step 3b: Click ‘Generate Hearing Notice’
Step 4a: Click ‘Send Notice To Counsel’ to send it to a counsel
Step 4b: A notice will appear stating that the hearing notice has been sent to the counsel. Click ‘Ok’
OR
Step 5a: Click on ‘Print’
Step 5b: Click ‘Print’ to send document to printer and finish the process or you can save as pdf.
HOW TO GET YOUR RETURNS
Step 1: On your dashboard, click on ‘Returns’
Step 2: Select ‘Case Type’ and ‘Filter Status’ i.e. daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly
Step 3: Enter ‘Suit Number’.
