RIVCOMIS
PRIVATE LEGAL PRACTITIONER/STATE COUNSEL USER MANUAL
To access the Rivers State Court Management Information System (RIVCOMIS); Open a browser and enter the 'RIVCOMIS URL'; http//rivcomis.riversstate.gov.ng The dashboard shown in the image below will display
All users of the RIVCOMIS platform will have to register with valid personal information to create an account.
After registration, the user account would be authenticated and activated by the admin. This will enable the user to successfully login to the platform and perform various actions.
Step 2: Click on ‘Account’
Step 3: Click ‘Create New Account’
Step 4: Select Private Legal Practitioner as ‘Account Type’
Step 5: (a) Fill in your personal information then click ‘Next’
Fill in your official information then click ‘Next’
Upload a valid ‘ID Card’ and ‘Seal’
Step 6: Click on ‘Submit’, a message will display with the information ‘Sign up was
successful, an email has been sent to you’
Step 7: The private legal practitioner / sate counsel will receive an automated
‘Email’ with account details (username and password)
Step 8: When the ‘Admin Activates’ the account, the private legal practitioner/ state counsel will receive a link to activate account, if the ‘Admin Rejects’ the account creation, the private legal practitioner / state counsel will receive an email with reasons stating why account creation was rejected.
Step 1: Login to the website using http://rivcomis.riverssate.gov.ng Step 2: Click ‘Account’ on the login page
Step 3: Enter your ‘Legal Email Address’ carrying nigerianbar.ng and ‘Password’
Step 4: Click ‘Login’ to successfully access your legal practitioner / state
counsel’s account
The legal practitioner / state counsel’s dashboard will display as seen below.
Step 3: Click ‘Edit Profile’ which will enable you edit that field Step 4: Click ‘Save Changes’ after editing each of the fields This enables you customize your page.
Step 3: Select ‘Court Type’, ‘Filing Category’ and ‘Filing Type’
Step 4a: If the User selects ‘Individual’, the user will have to enter the following
with the Claimant’s information:
Enter ‘First Name’
Enter ‘Middle Name’
Enter ‘Last Name’
Enter ‘Counsel’s Name’
Enter ‘Counsel’s Address’
Click ‘+’ to add more claimants
After filing the needed information, click ‘Save claimant+’ and then ‘next’
to proceed
Note: There is the ‘preview section’ at the right-hand side of the page where the user sees the information added.
Step 4b: If the User selects ‘Corporate’, the User will have to enter the following
with the Claimant’s information:
Enter ‘Corporation Name’
Enter ‘Counsel Name’
Enter ‘Counsel Address’
Click ‘+’ to add more claimants
After filing the needed information, click ‘Save claimant+’ and then
‘next’ to proceed
Note: There is the ‘preview section’ at the right-hand side of the page where the user sees the information added.
Step 4c: if the user selects ‘State/Police’ the user will have to enter the following
with the claimant’s information:
Enter ‘State/Police Name’
Enter ‘Counsel Name’
Enter ‘Counsel Address’
Click ‘+’ to add more claimants
After filing the needed information, click ‘Save claimant+’ and then ‘next’
to proceed.
Step 5: Select ‘Defendant Type’ individual, corporate or state/police by clicking on the circle icon
Step 5a: If the user selects ‘individual’, the user will have to complete the
following with the defendant’s information.
Enter ‘First Name’

Click ‘+’ to add more defendants

Step 8: Select ‘Assessment Type’
Step 9: Select ‘Court Division’. a message will appear asking for confirmation for the division chosen. If you are sure click ‘Yes’
If you selected ‘Self-Assessment’, checklist your documents and click on
‘Proceed’
If you selected ‘Registry Assessment’, click on ‘Proceed’
Step 10: A message will appear that the filing with a particular system number has been added successfully, Click ‘Ok’
Step 11: Preview your information and click ‘Finish’. A message will display with the information, You have successfully completed a filing, click ‘Ok’.
HOW TO FILE AN EXISTING SUIT
Step 1: On your Dashboard, click on ‘New Fillings’
Step 1: Click ‘Proceed’ in Defence filings box
Step 2: Select ‘Court Type’, ‘Counsel’, and ‘Defence Filing’
Step 3: Enter ‘Suit Number’ and click ‘Search’
Step 4: Select the Defendant you are appearing for and click ‘Next’
Step 5: Select the name of the document and click ‘Upload Document’ to upload each of your documents. Click on ‘Add More’ if you have more documents to upload and click ‘Next’
Step 6: Click on ‘Private Legal Practitioner’
Step 7: Select ‘Division’
Step 8: Checklist your documents and click ‘Save Defence Filing’
Step 9: A message will appear with the information ‘Filing with a peculiar system no has been added successfully’, click ‘Ok’
Step 10: Click ‘Next’ to preview what you have filed and click ‘Finish’
A pop up appears with the message ‘You have successfully completed a process, please wait for further updates. Thanks.’ Click ‘Ok’.

Step 2: Select ‘Court Type’, ‘Judge/Magistrate’ and ‘Application’
Step 3: Enter ‘Suit Number’ and click ‘Search’

HOW TO FILE AN AFFIDAVIT
Step 2: Click ‘Affidavit’
Step 5: Click on ‘Browse File’ to upload a passport
Step 7: Click ‘Preview and Proceed’
Step 8: Click ‘Cancel’ to go back and make necessary correction
Step9: Click ‘Done’ if your information is correct
Step 10: You will get a notification that your affidavit was successfully saved, click ‘Ok’
Step 11: Click ‘Proceed to Payment’ to make payment.

Step 3: Select ‘Correction of Name’
Step 5: Click ‘Browse File’ to upload a passport
Step 7: Click ‘Paragraph’, ‘Sub Paragraph’ or ‘Sub Sub Paragraph’ to input
Step 8: Click ‘Preview and Proceed’
Step 9: Click ‘Cancel’ to go back and make necessary corrections
Step 10: Click ‘Done’ if your information is correct
Step 11: You will get a notification that your affidavit was successfully saved, click ‘Ok’
Step 12: Click ‘Proceed to Payment’ to make payment.
Step 2: Click ‘Affidavit’
Step 3: Select ‘Statutory Declaration of Age’
Step 4: Fill the form displayed with the accurate information
Step 6: Click ‘Create Affidavit’. Paragraphs numbered 1-5 will appear, you can edit it by clicking on the three dots on the right side of each of them
Step 8: Click ‘Preview and Proceed’
Step 9: Click ‘Cancel’ to go back and make necessary corrections
Step 11: You will get a notification that your affidavit was successfully saved, click ‘Ok’
Step 12: Click ‘Proceed to Payment’ to make payment.
N/B: You can use this process to file any other affidavit as long as you fill the forms (which may differ) appropriately.
FILING UNDER MISCELLANEOUS
HOW TO PAY FOR CERTIFIED TRUE COPY (CTC)
Step 6: A notification will pop up asking you to confirm the division chosen. Click
‘Ok’
Step 7: Click on ‘Certified True Copy’
Step 8: Click on the check box ‘certified true copy’ and choose the number of pages by adding with the + icon
Step 9: Click on ‘Add CTC’
Step 2: Different types of filings will display, click ‘Miscellaneous’
Step 5: Click ‘Private Legal Practitioner’
Step 7: A notification will pop up asking you to confirm the division chosen. Click
‘Ok’
Step 8: Click on ‘Letter to Chief Registrar’ or any form you chose
Step 9: Click on the check box ‘Letter to Chief Registrar’ and choose the number of pages
HOW TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF VACATION/MIGRATED CASES
Step 4: Enter ‘Suit Number’
Step 6: You will receive a notification saying that you have successfully taken ownership of the case, click ‘Ok’
HOW TO APPLY FOR CHILD ADOPTION
Step 4: Select ‘Court Type’, ‘Filing Category’ and ‘Filing Type’
Step 6: You will get a notification with the information ‘Successfully added’, click
‘Ok’ and then click ‘Next’
Step 7: Select ‘Respondent Type’, fill in the Respondent information and click
Step 8: You will get a notification with the information ‘Successfully added’, click
‘Ok’ and then click ‘Next’
Step 10: You will get a notification with the information ‘Successfully saved, wait
for your form to be processed’, click ‘Ok’
Step 11: A preview of your form will appear, click ‘Next’
Step 13: Click ‘Private Legal Practitioner’, Select ‘Assessment Type’ and ‘Division’
checklist your documents and click ‘Next’
Step 14: Checklist your documents and click ‘Next’
Step 15: Preview to make sure all your informations are correct and click ‘Finish’
Step 16: A message will display that you have successfully completed the process, click ‘Ok’ to finish.
Step 4: Select ‘Court Type’, ‘Filing Type’, and ‘Filing Category’ and enter ‘Suit
Number’
Step 5: Select ‘Appellant Type’, fill in the Appellant information and click ‘Save Appellant’
Note: You can add more appellants by clicking on the + icon
Step 6: You will get a notification with the information ‘Appellant added successfully’, click ‘Ok’ and then click ‘Next’
Step 7: Select ‘Respondent Type’, fill in the Respondent information and click
‘Add Respondent’
Step 8: You will get a notification with the information ‘Respondent successfully added’, click ‘Ok’ and then click ‘Next’
Step 11: You will get a notification with the information ‘Appeal with system no APPEAL***** added successfully’, click ‘Ok’ and then click ‘Proceed’
Step 12: Preview to make sure that your informations are correct and click
‘Finish’
Step 13: A message will display stating that you have successfully completed a process, click ‘Ok’.

Step 1: Open the Rivcomis site using: www.rivcomis.riversstate.gov.ng Step 2: Input your ‘Legal Mail’ and ‘Password’
Step 3: Enter ‘Chamber name’
Step 4: Enter ‘Chamber Address’
Step 5: Enter ‘Chamber Phone Number’ Step 6: Enter ‘Chamber Website’
Step 7: Enter ‘Principal Name’ Step 8: Enter ‘Principal Email’
Step 9: Upload CAC document and Allied Document in pdf format and click
‘Save’
Step 10: You will receive a notification that the chamber registration was successful, click ‘Ok’

Step 1: On your dashboard, click ‘Lis Pendens’
Step 2: A page will open. Click on ‘Search Report’

Step 4: Click the plus (+) icon of any suit, to view a brief information concerning the suit or click on Case ID or Status to view everything about the case.
Step 3: A page will open with a list of all your affidavits, search for the particular affidavit using name, reference no or affidavit type.
Step 4: If what is in the action column of that particular affidavit is ‘Make Payment’, then click on it. It takes you where you can proceed to make payment, you also have the opportunity to edit the affidavit.
Step 5: If the action column of that particular affidavit says ‘Preview’ then click on it. It takes you where you can view your stamped affidavit, upload your signature and also print the affidavit.
Step 3: A page will open with a list of all your appeals, click on any ‘Case ID’ or ’Status’ to view the case details.
Step 3: A page will open with a list of all the motions you applied for, click on any ‘Application No’ or ’Status’ to view the case details or make payment depending on your status. You can also download the list/page.
